I. Viewpoints for Rashes

  1. 'DISTANCE' Views: Illustrate the distribution of body parts involved to determine the extent of involvement. Show a typical part of the rash (often seen at the periphery of the eruption) to help your doctor identify patterns. For certain rashes, a typical part (1-2 feet away) is sometimes better captured by the close-up viewpoint.
  2. 'CLOSE-UP' Detail: Being able to see crinkles in the skin, individual hair follicles, particles of skin scale, papillation, striation, and different color gradients is important. If these details are not preserved as sharp and focused when zooming in to 2x a section of the rash, please retake (2-6 inches away). Multiple photos are often important if the diagnosis has not been established.

II. Viewpoints for Skin Spots

  1. 'DISTANCE' (1-2 feet away): Capture the edge of the lesion and details of where and the condition of its situation, which often supply important clues to diagnosis.
  2. 'CLOSE-UP' Detail: Being able to see crinkles in the skin, individual hair follicles, particles of skin scale, papillation, striation, and different color gradients is important. If these details are not preserved as sharp and focused when zooming in or magnifying a section of the lesion, please retake (2-6 inches away).
  3. 'SIZING': All skin spots are required to have at least one photo next to a ruler (can be in one of your close-up or distance photos).
