Dr. Patrick Unemori, MD
Board-Certified Dermatologist
Dr. Patrick Unemori is a board-certified dermatologist with a distinguished career dedicated to advancing dermatologic care through innovation, equity, and accessibility.
A graduate of the University of California, San Francisco, he completed medical school, dermatology residency, and a fellowship in HIV dermatology at UCSF. His research on immunosenescence, Kaposi sarcoma, and HIV-related skin conditions has been published in leading medical journals and presented at international conferences.
Dr. Unemori previously served as Chief of Dermatology at Highland Hospital and at Alameda County's Eastmont, Hayward, and Tri-City Health Center clinics. Long before the COVID-19 pandemic, he helped pioneer early teledermatology systems to serve under-resourced communities.
His clinical journey also includes time at Kwan Dermatology, Kaiser Permanente Oakland, and Palo Alto Medical Foundation experiences that shaped his vision to launch Unemori & Associates, Dermatology, a practice rooted in excellence, compassion, and purpose.

Our platform includes real-time photo coaching that guides you through the process step-by-step. You'll receive instant feedback to ensure your photos are clear and properly lit. We recommend taking photos in natural daylight when possible.
Many common dermatological conditions can be effectively diagnosed and treated through teledermatology, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, and mole evaluations. For conditions requiring in-person examination or procedures, we'll schedule an office visit.
We offer same-day and next-day appointments for urgent concerns, with evening and weekend availability. Routine appointments are typically available within 3-5 days. Virtual appointments often have more flexible scheduling than in-office visits.
Yes, we use DoD-grade encryption through our partnership with the Medweb platform. All communications and medical records are fully HIPAA-compliant and protected with the same security standards used by the Department of Defense.
If our dermatologist determines that an in-person examination or procedure is necessary, we'll schedule an office appointment for you. Your virtual visit information will be available during your in-office visit for continuity of care.
